Both test pits are now completely filled with locally sourced soil representative of a typical UK building site. Underneath this huge quantity of soil is a large array of heat flux and temperature sensors, to monitor the sub ground conditions under the homes and to allow us to view any heat loss or gain coming into the pits from the earth below.
