Arriving by train
Salford Crescent Station is located in the heart of our campus and provides easy access to all of our facilities. With direct trains from Manchester Airport, Manchester Piccadilly & Victoria, Blackpool, Bolton, Buxton, Blackburn, Southport, Preston, Lancaster and Barrow-in-Furness. The train station is highlighted on the campus map with the red rail symbol.
Arriving by bus
You are able to travel to campus using the Bee Network on the following services: 8, 35, 36, 37, 38, 50, 67, 100, V1, V2; see Bus timetables for schedules and journey planning; a single fare is £2 per person per journey. For our facilities located on the Crescent/Peel Park campus (see access information below), the Crescent/outside University of Salford stops should be used. For Energy House 2.0, you will require the Broad Street/Frederick Road stops. The bus stops are highlighted on the campus map.
Arriving by car
We recommend using the Irwell Place Car Park for facilities located on the Crescent and Peel Park campus. For Energy House 2.0, located on Frederick Road campus, please use the car park at our NERIC facility (10 minute walk); alternatively, there is limited parking at the Frederick Road Car Park (formerly known as Allerton Car Park). Please be aware that there will be building work commencing on the Frederick Road campus in 2025 which will affect the number of spaces available. For further details and alternative car parks, please check for University travel updates and building work before visiting us. All car parks are highlighted on our campus map.
EV Charging – There are eight EV charging points on campus including four outside Energy House 2.0, all are available on a first come first serve basis. Charging can be paid for through the Be.EV app.
Parking Charges – Charges apply for all car parks unless you are a State-Registered Blue Badge holder. Information regarding charges and how to pay is available on the ParkUs site and through the QR code below.
Travel between Energy House Lab facilities
The University campus spans multiple locations. If you are confirmed to visit more than one facility, please read the below information:
- The maximum distance between any two of our facilities is half a mile (approximately 10 minutes’ walk), with some only five minutes’ walk between them. The full route between all facilities is approximately 15 minutes’ walk.
- The routes between all facilities are paved and mostly flat. There are a couple of places on campus which have gentle inclines, including a pedestrian footbridge over the railway lines. Each of these are accessible via ramps/paths for wheelchair users, with some also having steps with handrails. The paths are wide enough for wheelchair users, although there are some narrower sections.
- All road crossings have pedestrian lights, with the exception of the road outside Salford Smart Home (University Road).
- The routes between buildings are not sheltered, so please dress for the outdoor weather.
