Additional Information
Travel between Energy House Lab Facilities

The University campus spans multiple locations. If you are confirmed to visit more than one facility, please read the below information:
- The maximum distance between any two of our facilities is half a mile (approximately 10 minutes’ walk), with some only five minutes’ walk between them. The full route between all facilities is approximately 15 minutes’ walk.
- The routes between all facilities are paved and mostly flat. There are a couple of places on campus which have gentle inclines, including a pedestrian footbridge over the railway lines. Each of these are accessible via ramps/paths for wheelchair users, with some also having steps with handrails. The paths are wide enough for wheelchair users, although there are some narrower sections.
- All road crossings have pedestrian lights, with the exception of the road outside Salford Smart Home (University Road).
- The routes between buildings are not sheltered, so please dress for the outdoor weather.
Noise
The chambers within Energy House 1 and Energy House 2.0 are large and there is often machinery in operation which can be loud, making it harder to hear when in the chambers. The tour guides can make adjustments to how and where information is provided, so please let us know if you feel any adjustments are required.
Weather conditions in the Chambers
Energy House 1 and Energy House 2.0 have the capability to alter the weather conditions within their chambers. Temperatures range between -13°C to +30°C in Energy House 1 and -20°C to +40°C in Energy House 2.0, both can produce rain, and Energy House 2.0 can produce snow. If visiting these facilities, please remember to bring warm layers and wear footwear that is appropriate for slippery, uneven surfaces.
