Anchor Magnets Warmroom Radiator Foil

Warmroom is designed to reduce heat loss through external walls located behind radiators. The product consists of aluminium foil-backed magnetic sheets that can be installed in-situ without fixings. The low emissivity foil reduces radiative heat transfer from the rear surface of the radiator to the external wall.

Controlled tests were undertaken to evaluate its effect on space heating gas consumption. Heat flux plates and surface temperature sensors were used to characterise heat transfer through the external walls behind radiators.

Warmroom was found to provide a simple and low-cost method of reducing space heating energy bills.

Warmroom performance on a typical UK winter day with the heating system following the SAP heating pattern:

• Space heating gas consumption reduction of 2.9%
• Solid external wall heat loss behind radiators:
• 54% reduction over the 24-hour period
• 66% peak reduction during heating cycles
• Wall surface temperature behind radiators:
• 3.3 °C reduction over the 24-hour period
• 8 °C peak reduction during heating cycles
• No impact on internal temperatures within the house
