Last month, we had the pleasure of bringing together our project and industry partners to mark the close of the Innovate UK Future Homes Innovation Accelerator project. A milestone moment celebrating three years of collaboration, research, and real-world impact.
The event provided an opportunity to reflect on the breadth of work delivered throughout the project and to reconnect with the many individuals and organisations who have contributed along the way. It was a valuable chance to share insights, discuss outcomes, and recognise the impact of collective effort in driving progress toward better-performing homes.

Across the day, attendees heard a series of talks and panel discussions covering key themes from the programme, including fabric performance, heating systems, ASHP acoustics, indoor air quality, business start-ups and support, and the development of a digital retrofit pattern book. Presentations highlighted both technical findings and practical applications, demonstrating how research can inform real-world housing design and delivery.
The panel discussion with housebuilder partners offered perspectives on how the research has influenced industry practice, followed by sessions exploring acoustics outcomes and indoor air quality evidence from both real homes and future housing scenarios. The afternoon continued with insights into collaboration with Vector Homes, developments in heating systems, outputs from the Energy Innovation Agency, and a demonstration of the Retrofit Pattern Book dataset.

We were pleased to be joined by partners including Barratt Redrow, Bellway Homes, Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland, Salford Acoustics Research Centre, The University of Manchester, Vector Homes, Panasonic Manufacturing UK Ltd, Energy Innovation Agency, RED CO-OPERATIVE LTD, and Greater Manchester Combined Authority.

It was a fantastic way to close the project, reflecting on what has been achieved through collaboration, innovation, and shared expertise, and looking ahead to how these outcomes will continue to support the future of sustainable housing.
